I chose the Corinthian Order. This piece of art expresses Greek ideals of harmony, balance, order, and moderation. The Corinthian has balance because both of the sides of the pillar are equal. Meaning that they both have the same design all through the pillar. The design of the leaves makes the pillar harmoneous. The leaves are pleasing to the eye. The design on the pillar is not excessive which is also a good thing. The Corinthian Order also has beauty and is useful. The beauty of the pillar is the intricate designs that catch the eye. The pillar is useful because it is holding, or supporting, another structure. Personally i like the corinthian columns the best. I like that they have more design than the other two. You can tell that someone put a lot of effort into the design. And i also like the design because it is soothing and very graceful.

I chose the Charioteer of Delphi. It demonstrates glorifying human beings by having the statue stand up straight with good posture. Also it shows the greeks were strong because the statue is holding a weapon of some sort. Lastly, it represents beauty by the dress flowing and having a pure look to it and it represents usefullness because many greeks probably looked up to this sculpture to worship it and it could have been related to a god or goddess. I like Corinthian columns best because it shows more detail than the other two and is very elaborate and sets a happy mood.

I chose The Temple of Athena Nike. This peice of art expresses Greek ideals of harmony, balance, order, and moderation. The temple is harmonious by how the pilars are engraved and how they flow together. The temple has balance because both sides of the building have the same amount of pilars and it has order because the pilars are spread apart euqally and evenly. The temple also has moderation on how it is not to big, yet it is not to small. There could be temples everywhere like this in every city-state so therefore this temple could represent its own city-state. I like Corinthian columns the best because of the detail on the top engraved part and how beautiful it is. The others are to plain and normal. The Corinthian stands out and is very pretty.

I chose The Temple of Athena Nike. This temple shows pride in city states because each city state has its own temple. The city states worshiped specific gods more than others, and each city state demonstrated this. It also shows beauty and usefulness. The temples were homes of the gods and they were designed beautifully to please the gods. The Temple of Athena Nike also helped people pray and get closer to Athena. People could pray and try to help their families and get closer to the gods. Personally I like the Ionic columns the best. Unlike the Doric columns it shows better detail and more work put into it. However the Corinthian Columns show a ton of detail and is very beautiful, but I think it is to eye catchy, it takes away attention from the grand building and it to high class. I think the Ionic columns are more simple but still beautiful and a nice touch to the buildings.

I choseThe Theatre of Herodes. This piece of architecture. This piece glorifies human beings because the entire piece is centered around a stage. This glorifies humans becuase it portrays them as the center of attention. Also it combines beauty and usefullness becuase not only is the ornate deatails beautiful, it was actually used as a theatre. I like the corinthian colemns best becasue since they are so ornate, it gives a lot more freedom to each individual artist. i like this because then each artist's work is a litttle different.

I choose the Parthenon because it seems really pretty. I like the way the greeks used it as a temple but is is still art. It was used to glorify many different gods and goddesses, all which were the ideal image of humans. This showed pride by the fact that it was something that other city-states didn't have. It also is a very orderly piece of art. It uses simple things to make a very pretty piece of art. Everything in it is used for the purpose of holding up the building but it is still used as art. I like the Doric order of art. I like the way that it looks simple but it is still very elegant looking.

I chose the temple of Apollo at Didyma because it seems like a really cool piece of architecture. This piece of architecture glorifies humans because it shows how much people can achieve. The people who built this piece must have been very skilled and that glorifies humans. This shows harmony, balance, order, and moderation. First the piece shows harmony because it works with the landscape and all the pieces work well together. This shows balance because the the temple is built on top of the stairs and it is being help up by it. This shows order because nothing is out of place and everything seems to be put where it is for a reason. This shows moderation because the piece is well sized it is not too big or too small. I think that the ionic pillars are the best. The doric pilalrs seem too plain, while the Corinthian pillar seems to have too much design and detail. I think that ionic pillars would work the best because they would still show the beauty of the temple they are holding it up.

I chose the Temple of Hephaestus. This building show the Greek ides of usefullness and beauty but also harmony, balance, order and moderation. This building shows usefullness and beauty because it is a elengat building but is also used to worship the got Hephaestus. This building also shows balance because the pillars are equally spaced and are symmetrical, it shows harmony because the different parts of the building all seem to flow together, it shows order because nothing is out of place and moderation because it does not take up all the space around it. Personally i like the corinthian pillars more because of the amount of detail and overalll design of the pillar.

I chose the Charioteer of Delphi. This demonstrates harmnoy, balance, order, and moderation for an example, the piece shows a balance between power and energy. It is harmoneous because the body is evened out and is holding a weapon. There is order because the statue is complex, but simple at the same time. Lastly there is moderation because the weapon isn't too big and doesn't throw off the sculpture. The sculpture represents the city-states because the staue helped spread other Greek artistic abilities to other city-states. Personally, I like the Doric columns the best because they are simple, but eloquent at the same time.

I chose the temple of Athena Parthenos. This piece of art shows the Greek ideal pride in city-states because it is the temple worshipping the city-states god. It also expresses the Greek ideal of harmony, balance, order and moderation. It shows harmony because all the pieces in this sculpture flow together and nothing seems out of place. It shows balance because the pillars are balanceing out the top and bot of this piece. It show moderation because even though it is big it is not to big. Finally it shows order because everything is where sit is suposed to be. I personal like the doric pillars. The pillars are simple and easier to construct allowing for more buildings to be made. I like that there is no design because the eye just flows over it.

The Temple of Apollo at Didyma demonstrates art expressed in order, and art expressed in beauty and usefulness. It expresses harmony because it has a statue of Apollo, it shows the balance between the gods/goddesses and the people of Greece. It expresses beauty and usefulness because its a beautiful temple but if was still of use to the people because it was used for worshiping Apollo. I like the Ionic columns the best because I feel like the Doric ones were too boring and the Corinthian ones had too much going on, Doric columns have a balance of the two.

I chose the Erechtheum. The Erechtheum contained sanctuaries to Athena Polias, Poseidon, and Erechtheus. It isn't dedicated to one specific god or goddess. This piece of art was discussed in class already but what was not discussed was the Porch of the Caryatids. This glorifies humans because the Porch of the Caryatids is six beautiful women being used as pillars to hold up the top of the building. This shows that women can be very strong and also are there's to hold things up and keep things in control and balanced. They're also glorified because the women seem to be flawless and almost godlike. The Porch of the Caryatids shows pride in the city state because the porch is what is facing the city state on the top of the hill, this shows that the women pillars are watching over the city state. This art shows balance because there are six of the women which is an even number that can be evenly distributed. This art shows beauty and usefulness because the women are beautiful and useful because they are pillars to the Erechtheum. In my personal opinion, I like the Ionic pillars because they have details and artwork to them but yet they are still simple and not to overdone.

I chose the Charioteer of Delphi. This art glorifies humans because it shows the strength of humans, being able to control a chariot and not get injured. It also glorifies humans because the main part of the statue is a human. This statue shows pride in city-states too, because it shows what the people of the city-state can do and in this case, it would be manning a chariot. My column preference would be Ionic, because it gives the columns a simple beauty, but is not too plain or too decorated so that it would overpower the building it is holding up.

I chose the Erechtheum. This piece of Greek architecture shows beauty and usefulness with it's pillars that line the north, south, and east sides. These pillars are beautiful because the bright white marble is striking against the clear blue skies. They are also my favorite kind of pillars, Ionic. I like Ionic pillars because of their elegance. Their style also reminds me of ancient Greece whenever I see them. The Erechtheum shows pride in the city-state because it was named after Athens' first king, Erechtheus. Also, the temple worships Athena because she was the godess that Athens was named after.

I chose the Erechtheum. It shows glorification of humans because they are the support of the structure and keep balance. It also shows pride in its city-state because it shows an organization of people completing one common goal (holding the ceiling) and shows they can work together without conflict. I like the corinthian columns the best because they look like someone put in a lot of effort to create.

I chose the Temple of Athena Nike. Because the temple serves a purpose, not only in worship but it is appealing to observe, and it was designed in a detailed, beautiful way, this architectural artwork is combining beauty and usefulness. This structure shows Greek pride in their city states. Athena, being the guardian of Athens, was often worshipped in this temple. The Athenian people wanted to show the Peloponnesian area how wonderful their polis was by placing pride in their guardian. My favorite column is the Corinthian column. They are so elaborately carved that it is hard not to appreciate their beauty. Corinthian columns are decorated very well and serve an important purpose in architecture.

I Chose the Parthenon. It clearly expresses pride in the city-states due to the fact that despite how much of it is in ruin, it shows how much effort and work went into creating such a magnificent structure. It shows the beauty and usefulness that went into many Greek structures in its design, which is filled with excess, and how it could be used as a temple of sorts to pray and worship their gods. I like the Doric order because of its simplistic yet sturdy and elegent design. it does not draw the eye but complements the overall image.

I chose the Temple of Athena Nike because it demonstrates glorifying people, beauty and usefulness and pride in city states. This temple glorifies people by its detailed art above the pillars showing people and since they are carved at the top of such an eye catching structure it explains the importance of recognizing the human race. It also shows the people as beautiful and well-constructed. This structure is without a doubt beautiful with its detailed carvings and elegant size and shape. It is also very use full, it could be used for the people to worship in, or maybe important assembly meetings or discussions, there are many possibilities and many different reasons to use this. It also represents the city state by being a symbol to it, and as it is set overlooking the city state it could be thought of as a protector looking upon the city state. Since it is dedicated to a god/goddess it can be a symbol of that god watching and looking after the city state. The style of pillars I best like would be the Ionic, I choose this because it has that elegant and classy look without being too formal. It shows a simplistic beauty. I think the swirls that come out the top adds a detailed shape without drawing attention away from the whole temple it is set with.

I chose the Erechtheum. It shows harmony, balance, order, and moderation. It shows balance because the figures are holding the structure up. It also shows order because each of the figures are alligned almost perfectly and nothing is out of place. The peice also shows glorifying humans in several ways. For one, the women figures are holding the structure together and are the base of it all. Another way is that this architectural peice shows what human beings are capable of doing. The pillar I like most is the Doric. Among the reasons I like it is the fact that I feel simple is best. The pillar also appears to be smooth and flawless.

I chose the Temple of Olympian Zeus located in Athens. I believe it displays The Greek ideals of pride in ones City-state because it is a temple to Zeus, the father of their patron goddess Athena. It shows respect to the god of gods and without Zeus their would be no Athena and no Athens. It also displays its Usefulness and beauty because it was beautifully crafted with Corinthian pillars, the most detailed and complex of the pillars. It is also useful because it allows the people to give thanks to Zeus for all he has done or provided. I favorite of the Pillars however has to be the Ionic pillars because they aren't ordinary pillars with no design like the Doric pillars or extremely flashy like the Corinthian pillars they are simple yet elegant making them the best in my mind.

I chose the Charioteer of Delphi. This piece of architecture shows the glorification of humans because it shows a slim figure, who is still muscular, with good posture. It also shows it because the statue is holding reins to a chariot which may have been used togooff to battle. This piece also shows beauty an usefullness because of the flowing dress, andhow the statue is basically flawless. It shows usefullness because people probably wanted to be strong, and mighty like this statue, so it could be used for worship.

i chose the Erechtheum because it shows examples of order, balance, harmony and moderation. I shows order because nothing on the temple seems to have anything out of the original or something that is not supposed to be there. It shows balance by the pillars that are beautifully sculpted can hold up that much of the temple. It shows harmony because i think that having the pillars carved into women is an honor because to me thats saying that they help hold up the mens life by taking care of the house and education because with out them, the men could never do all that work by themselves. For the last one, it shows moderation because the building may look big but it could be built on a hillside and that may have it look a lot bigger than it really is.

I chose The ionic column as the art structure I am going to talk about. Harmony, balance, order, and moderation can all be seen in this column. Harmony, bring the roof and the floor connecting eachother. Balance, because it is an even balance in between the two other columns. Order, because it is very detailed, showing command. Moderation, because well it is detailed, it is not nearly as over detailed as the corintian column. It also shows a combination of beauty and usefulness because it is a beautiful column, and people enjoy looking at them, well at the same time, they are used to hold up the ceiling in which they stand under. So for the column I would pick, it would definitely be Ionic, for the reasons stated above.

The Temple of Athena Nike
The temple is tall and beautiful, showing the skill that humans have. This temple was for worshipping a god, most likely the god of a city-state. Everyting on the temple is evenly spaced, the columns balance the top, however the structure is not overwhelming. It was used for worship, and everyting about the temple is perfect and beautiful. I like Corinthian columns the best because they are very ornate and would have taken a lot of time and skill to create.

I chose The Temple of Apollo at Didyma. This piece of art glorifies humans because it holds a statue of Apollo, which shows that they obviously respected him. It represents pride in thier city-states because it used to be a temple in which people of that city-state worshipped. Lastly, it represents beauty because it is a very good lloking building and it was an important building in their city-state. I like the Corinthian collumn the best because it's very detailed and very pretty looking.
