I believe that paper is the most important Chinese invention because until the internet came into being we would still be etching in letter onto stone or pupirus which i don't fine to be an appealing prospect. Also i do not believe there is a sufficient supply of pupirus to cope with 7 billion people writing. - Clint R.

I think that gunpowder was the most important ancient Chinese invention. The reason why i think this is because gunpowder to this day is used very much and not only for war but also for hunting. It provided a feeling of protection. Also it is used to kill animals for a source of food. In addition to that it may have been also used as a source of internment. Without gunpowder the United Stated would not have been able to properly defend its self against other surrounding enemies. Gunpowder is the most important.-Brooke R.

I believe that the compass was the most important Chinese invention.Without the compass many people throughout the past would have gotten lost. Without the compass there would be no GPS or possibly even the directions of north, east, west or south! I still remember when I was young and in girl scouts. When we went on a camping trip we used our compass to help us find our camping spot. Without a compass who knows who would have gotten lost! Many historical figures we know today have used a compass and without it who knows how much our life could have changed!

I believe paper was the greatest invention for the Chinese for a few good reasons. one is i dont think gunpowder was a good invention because it lead to making weapons and i think we can solve our problems without fighting. people we already finding their way before compasses. And a printing ability needs paper to work. So without the paper that is lost. And paper leads to free expression of art, poetry, and writing. Also they now can document and send letters to everyone. Or document about events. Luke H.

I think that the seed drill is the most important Chinese invention because it made for the uniform depth of the planting of seeds, meaning that each seed was planted at the same depth. This would regulate crop size and would prevent against damaged or weak crops in that they would all grow in a uniform way. Needless to say, people would be healthier because they would be eating healthier crops as apposed to unhealthy and weak crops. I believe that the banknote is the most important Chinese invention because the banknotes modernized Chinese economy. Without the banknotes, people would have to carry around sacks with copper coins if the wanted to buy something. Just think about it... If the Chinese didn't invent paper currency, then maybe people today would have to lug around coins. I for one, love paper currency and I get really annoyed if I have large amounts of coins sitting around. If the Chinese never invented banknotes, then todays economic system would not work at all.
