The topic the was Vladimir the first because i thought it was kind of funny that he chose orthodox because it allowed him to drink alcohol.
I really liked the idea of shahadah because accepting that allah is your god is really unique for that time period

I found the reign of Ivan I interesting because he only came to power after being cooperative with the Mongol rulers, and he was only the grand prince of Moscow. He was only allowed to do things that the Mongols allowed him to do. Basically, he had a position just for the title. This was so interesting because it seemed to me that the Mongols only gave Ivan I the position so that the people of Moscow and other surrounding areas would assume the Mongols to be reasonable and kind rulers.

I found it fascinating to hear how Muslims were so devoted by fasting for so long and praying at least 5 times a day consistently.

I find it interesting that Justinian married Theodora. She was an actress, which at the time was the equivalent to a prostitute. Even with her shady background, she shared almost 50-50 power with Justinian and influenced many of his important decisions.

I found it interesting that Justinian was actually born a peasant & went to Constantinople with his Uncle to seek their fortunes.

I think it was interesting to find how Justinian's people could turn on him. Also I was shocked how he locked his people in the stadium and killed them. Jodie R.
The topic I found most interesting was the Oparchniki under Ivan IV. The small army was Ivan's iron fist when any opposed him which was very gruesome, but caught my curiosity because of how cruel a human being can be.

The part i thought was interesting was the fact that the book dose not say anything about how cruel Justinian was when in reality he killed thousands of rebels.

I was interested by the donations Muslims have to make. I thought it was cool that they have to actually give it to the person, not just an organization.
I like the whole history of Third Rome because it was originally started in Rome, Italy. Then move to Constantinople. Finally to Moscow.

One person in the Islamic civilization that I found to be very interesting is Ali. Ali was a caliph whose followers looked to him for civil and religious authority He was the imam which is the equivalent of now-a-days priest. His followers were Shi'ah while everyone else at the time were Sunni. I thought it was very interesting that one person could change 10% of all the Muslims to follow him and his successors instead of following "the way."

I thought that the Hagia Sophia was interesting because of how revolutionary the dome shape was and all of the complications that came along with it. Also the fact that it was a church, a mosque, and now a museum is also pretty interesting.

I thought it was interesting that Muslims were tolerant of other faiths because I always thought they were intolerant.

I thought the five pillars of Islam were very interesting, and more specifically, how Muslims and Jews think pigs are dirty creatures because of the shape of their hooves

I thought it was interesting how the Muslim religion was split, much like the christian church. I always thought they all worshiped the same way.

I found Muhammad very interesting because he could have called himself the founder of Islam but instead he went with prophet

What I find interesting is the reign of Ivan IV. He seemed to be troubled with what he had done as ruler. I liked this topic because it was interesting to find out why he chose to do what he did while he was in power.

I found the differences between Sunni and Shi'a Muslims quite interesting because I had no idea that 90% of Muslims don't follow religious leaders (imam's) and instead read and interpret the Quran on their own. - Christian T
i found the sunni muslims my favorite because when they go to the mosques they aren't lectured by an imam they are taught by "the way".

I find the concept of a pilgrimage to Mecca, one of the five pillars of Islam, intriguing because of the sheer logistics required to plan out an influx of that many people into the city, as every Muslim is expected to go at least once.

I found Yaroslav the Wise to be interesting. It's interesting that he created a law code (the Pravda Russkaia) which remained as Russia's law code for 500 years.
