WELCOME TO THE INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION!

You now know the Five Characteristics of Civilization! Pick one topic we are studying in the Indus Valley Civilization and explain how it relates to one of the Five Characteristics of Civilization! So, in order to get CREDIT you must:

1) Identify and DESCRIBE a topic from the Indus Valley Civilization

2) Explain how it relates to one of the Five Characteristics of Civilization

3) Make sure that you sign off using your first name and first initial of your last name ONLY!


4) Make sure that NO ONE ELSE has written about your topic already! (Everyone has to write about a different topic to get the points!)

Follow these directions to get the complete points:

B. Use proper grammar, spelling, etc.
 
C. Make sure that it is class appropriate--keep it clean!
D. Make sure you go through the whole word verification process (typing the misshapen word).

When the Spartans captured the Helots they would treat them very cruely, but they most likely did this because they were so similar to them. They spoke the same language and followed the same religion so it probably seemed kind of weird to be capturing someone with equal values to you. So in order to make them seem like they weren't the same they felt like they needed to treat them more harshly. The practice I found most interesting was how in order to be a free Spartan you had to have a Spartan father and mother, but so many of them got killed in war that this became harder than it seems. So if your father died in war before you were born you wouldn't be considered a free Spartan which I think is strange. -Baye J
